Australia (South Australia) – Adelaide

Goodbye Melbourne and Hello Adelaide!

Adelaide is a pretty laid back city, which is centrally located among some of the oldest and finest wine producing regions of McLaren Vale, Barossa Valley and Clare Valley. The city can be easily explored by foot, trains, trams and buses. There are free city-loop buses, which run frequently until about 6pm most days and 9pm on Fridays daily that can get you around the city. The slower pace here is something that I was not used to when I was here during the first few days. Also, most of the shops close early, and I mean really early, like 5pm, except for dining places such as restaurants and cafes. Hence, you have to plan and start your day early.

Time for some shopping around Rundle Street

As I have mentioned previously, one cannot miss the beautiful beaches when you are in Australia. One of my favourite places in Adelaide is the Glenelg beach. I enjoyed taking strolls around the beach with the cool sea breeze. Do try the risotto at Cardone's Seafood & Grill when you are at Glenelg beach, it’s delicious. Glenelg beach can be easily accessed by the Glenelg Tram via the city (30 minutes). So what are you waiting for... hope onto the vintage tram and travel to the beach

Simply love the cloudy peaceful sky

What are you waiting for?

The seagulls are having a great time too!

Victor Harbour and visiting one of the wine producing regions is a must visit places when you are in Adelaide. I had booked myself to a 1-day tour to visit Victor Harbour, Granite Island and McLaren Vale. The tour starts at 9am in the morning and ends at around 5pm. The tour bus provides centralised pick-up and drop-off point at Adelaide Central Bus Station.

Wonder through the main street at the Victor Harbour and have the must-eat fish and chips for lunch at The Original Fish Shop. After lunch, explore the Granite Island which can be easily reached by foot across the bridge or take the horse tram.

One of the reasons why I have decided to travel Adelaide is because I have a friend whom we have not met for 12 years since she migrated there. Hence, I took this opportunity to visit her. Nothing beats meeting up an old friend in a foreign land, catching up over meals and hanging out together, and visited some of the places where the locals frequent. One of the interesting cafes she brought me to was the Eggless Dessert Cafe, they serve great desserts and often change/introduce new desserts every month.
We also went to Adelaide Central Market, done some shopping at the Rundle Mall, and even had a chance to visiting the Haighs Chocolate Factory (Australia home proud chocolates). The chocolate factory offers free tours around their factory and you also get to sample some of their chocolates too. Trust me, their chocolates are really so heavenly good!!

Great catch-up with my dear friend and thank both her and her husband for bringing me around Adelaide. Checkout the cute photo bombers.
