New Zealand (South Island) – Lake Tekapo

The journey to the south of Island would not be complete without going to Lake Tekapo.
It is a relatively short drive of 120km, approximately 1.5 hour from Mount Cook to Lake Tekapo.

How about spending mid-autumn festival at Lake Tekapo?
This is yet another first for my besties and I, spending mid-autumn festival overseas.
Our accommodation is lake-fronting and we are able to enjoy the brightly lit full moon right from our living room with double egg yolk mooncakes and wine.
Yes, mooncakes you are not reading wrongly, we have managed to find and bought a box of mooncakes while we were grocery shopping at Queenstown.
This is one of the best mid-autumn festival I ever had; with great companions, and pretty decent mooncakes. What more can you ask for?
The best things in life are the people you love, the places you have been and seen and last but not least the memories you have made along the way.

Happy Mid-Autumn Festival from Lake Tekapo

Morning Lake Tekapo

We had a hearty breakfast and spent the next morning to “conquer” Mount John summit which is just 15 minutes drive up to the summit from Lake Tekapo. The road is a slightly wider single lane shared by both directions, so we had to drive up with extra care. Even though the “driving up to conquer” Mount John summit is challenging, it is worth the every bit of stress generated while driving up in exchange for the vast stunning views.
Thereafter, we also visited the famous Lake Takapo Church of the Good Shepherd before we bid goodbye to Lake Takapo and head back to Christchurch.
