New Zealand (South Island) – Aoraki/Mount Cook

If you are visiting the south island of New Zealand, Aoraki/Mount Cook is definitely a must go.
Mount Cook is the highest peak in New Zealand; and of course this is where we are heading next.
We had a long drive of approximately 400km to Mount Cook from Te Anau via Lindis Pass, Twizel and Lake Pukaki.

Even though this is the 8th day of our road trip, and you might think that we have already had enough of “Wows” to the great sceneries throughout the vast roads that we had covered thus far. However, the journey to Mount Cook never fails to amaze me with the constantly changing stunning views, challenging windy roads along the Lindis Pass and the ultra blue Lake Pukaki are just a few to mention.

Just can't take my eyes off you! On our way to Mount Cook.

There are many walks/hikes around Mount Cook village.
We decided to take up one of the tracks in Mount Cook, and we chose to trek the popular Hooker Valley track the next morning.

The starting point is from the Mount Cook village carpark. The walk is absolutely of pure indulgence with breathtaking views. The Hooker Valley track requires a minimum of 4 hours that brings us from the Mount Cook village to the heart of Mount Cook, crossing 3 swing bridges. As we are running short of time, we did not complete the whole track; we started to backtrack from 30 minutes of walk after passing the second swing bridge and seeing the third swing bridge from afar. If you continued walking, after passing the third swing bridge, you will get to see the Hooker Glacier Lake with the lookout of Mount Cook, Hooker Glacier and the Southern Alps at the end point.

I hope to be back again some day to complete this track and spend more time at Mount Cook for other amazing walking tracks.

Take the opportunity to BREATHE deep and long; You won't get such fresh clean air in Singapore (Psst.. we just so happened to escape from the "unhealthy" air quality during the hazy period)

Keep walking, trust me, you won't get bored of these scenic views.

More stunning views are awaiting for you
